Strengthening Connections: UHNBC Tower Project Team Visits Lheidli T’enneh First Nation

Last Friday, members of the UHNBC Acute Care Tower project team had the honour of visiting Lheidli T’enneh First Nation to share updates on the project, answer questions, and connect directly with community members.
This meaningful visit was part of our commitment to ongoing Indigenous engagement throughout the planning and construction of the new tower. We’re focused on listening, learning, and working in partnership to ensure the facility reflects and respects Indigenous values, traditions, and community needs.
The new tower will feature:
- Trust-building environments where patients, families, and care teams feel safe, supported, and respected
- Healing-focused spaces designed to promote wellness, connection, and comfort
- Culturally embedded design, incorporating Indigenous elements, practices, and perspectives into the heart of the facility
We’re grateful to Lheidli T’enneh First Nation for welcoming us and sharing their insights. This collaboration is essential to creating a space that truly serves and honours our community.
